About Me
I was born in Kerala, a naturally beautiful state on the west coast of South India. The last 8 years of my life in India was spent in a city called Pondicherry, on the East coast of S.India. I went to medical school in Pondicherry and completed 1 year of psychiatry residency before moving to London, U.K. While employed at a teaching hospital in North London, I completed a three-year training in Transactional Analysis psychotherapy. I lived in France for a few months while I was doing my compulsory national service in France. I moved to the US in 1992 and got a master's degree in psychology from Antioch University, Seattle.
My work as a psychotherapist is influenced by my training as a physician and psychotherapist and also my interest and experience in Mindfulness meditation (Vipassana), Yoga and The Work of Byron Katie. Having lived in 4 different countries as an adult, I have an interest in treating adjustment difficulties and coping in a new environment and dealing with life transitions. My clinical interests also include helping people with depression, anxiety, panic attacks, obsessive compulsive disorder, relationship problems, loneliness, academic stress, dealing with health issues and spirituality concerns.
